How To Host A CyberCOM Social

Planning Your Event

Get creative! You may want to search online for quizes or novelty activities. For brain teasers and other games you can use the break off rooms to divide into team. You can also check the Activity Board for suggestions posted by other SocialLights. You’ll need to decide on a: (1) theme; (2) title (should reflect the theme); (3) brief description, including the activities you’re planning (example: A MoonLight Social could take place on a full moon with the activity being a moon sign quiz; (4) date and time. (Click the link at the bottom of the page for tips on planning your event.)

Note: Do not host a CyberCOM Social to advertise products or services, although you’re welcome to share a link to your website/blog/media or other resources.

Schedule Your CyberCOM Social

Step 1: Create a Sign Up post

Click the link above. When the page opens, click “New Topic” and create a Sign Up post. The format is:

> For the “Topic Subject” enter your title
> Click inside the text editor and enter the day, date, time, and ZONE. (Example - Monday, March 7th, 8 p.m., ET)
> Note: For continuity, always post Eastern Time (ET). Time Zone Converter
> Click "Enter" twice on your keypad, then provide a description.
> Tip: You may want to include a photo to make your post more inviting. It will be easier if you add the photo first.

* When you're finished, copy the url (web address) to include in your Calendar post.

Step 2: Post your event on the Calendar.

Access the Calendar (the tab is below the CyberCOM banner). Click “Add New Event”, then “Ranged Event” (second option down). Enter your details in the sections provided. For the time zone, choose "(GMT-5:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)" if it's not pre-selected, then enter the hour based on ET). Don't forget to include the Sign Up post url! To edit your post at any time, click "Edit Event" (it's on the "Event Options" drop down menu).

Note: Plan ahead. It could take up to 48-hours for an event to be reviewed and posted. (We'll also add an attendance link to your calendar post!)

Help Spread The Word

Now all you need is participants! Invite your friends on social media and let them know that it’s free to register on CyberCOM. (Encourage them to do so the day before your event so they can get familiar with our VoiceChat technology.) Be sure to mention your upcoming CyberCOM Social when you're talking in the CyberCOMmunity meeting rooms!

If two days prior to your scheduled CyberCOM Social there's not at least two participants signed up, please
remove it from the Calendar (also on the "Event Options" dropdown menu) and delete your Sign Up Post.
CyberCOM Socials are funfilled events that last an hour. Participants can dial-in toll free, or attend online in the VoiceChat meeting room.
